Straight cut (or traditional) toe picks feature a linear design with grooves cut in one direction. This creates a consistent and straightforward point of contact with the ice.

They provide a more gradual engagement compared to cross cut designs, which can feel less aggressive at the moment of takeoff. This makes them easier to control for skaters developing timing and technique on toe-assisted jumps.

The simpler structure also results in a smoother interaction with the ice, with less abrupt bite when the pick is set.
